For this project, students were tasked with creating a typographic poster for a modern rendition of a song from the year 1984. My assigned song was Sister Christian by Night Ranger, a song written because the drummer of the band was surprised at how much his little sister Christy had grown while he was away. My poster was designed with this idea of nostalgia, while also incorporating the feelings of youth and empowerment that come from the original song. After deciding on this direction for a poster, I had to translate the visual identity that this created to other forms of media as well, specifically a vinyl record jacket and label. This led to the creation of a consistent visual system that I am proud of viewing.
